The really interesting stories often unfold behind the scenes. That is why we have opted not to show product packaging from the collection that is already considered museum-worthy, instead presenting the parallel universe of consumer goods per se. Secondary packaging to protect goods in transit accounts for many tons of material worldwide. Its enigmatic forms are mostly ignored and simply discarded. They are however made from precious commodities like petroleum, wood or corn. These anonymous buffers or fillers, made from material that is compressed, foamed or squeezed into shape, merit more attention.
